My Full Review of Best Time Tracking Apps for iPhone

Timery is a free time-tracking app with a clean and intuitive interface for iPhone users. You may notice that this app is designed for Toggl Track (which I will review next) and needs to be integrated. You can keep the plan for free, and to access it, you need to register with Toggle Track.
Why I Like It
As a free time-tracking app, the app offers a lot of versatility, but there are also a few limitations. I could only edit the last four entries of a total of four timers I could create. Four last entries is still not that bad when you have the whole app for free for your business needs.
What I really liked about Timery was its widgets and shortcuts. This made starting and closing timers in a click.
The visual reports and time reviews are neat and detailed. I could easily evaluate my performance and track how long I used other apps integrated with Timery.
Key Features
- Suggested time entries
- Modify your time entries via your apple watch
- Project reporting features
My Verdict
Timery is an affordable time-tracking app, so upgrading your account won’t sink your budget. Paying only $10 annually will give you more than four timers and extra features like adding tag names.
If you are a freelancer or have a small team, time management becomes a breeze with Timery.
Pros
- Subscription is not necessary
- Can be modified via an apple watch
- Displayed on the lock screen
- Widgets available with live activities
- Cheap time-tracking app
Cons
- Reports and their configuration are available only for paid plan users

Forest is a paid time-tracking app that focuses more on helping its users to concentrate on work. It offers features that eliminate distractions and records time spent working.
The tracking app works quite differently from competitors; it serves two purposes: tracking time and growing trees.
Why I Like It
If you have a team, this app might not be for you. However, if you struggle with getting work done and constantly get distracted by notifications, Forest can help you concentrate. Although it is not an app for tracking billable hours for client projects, it does offer some insight into your performance.
Additionally, the longer you focus, the bigger the tree you can grow. You also have a chance to get one planted in real life.
Key Features
- Rewards and achievements are available to boost motivation
- Plant trees with friends and family
- Focus time tracked in the Apple Health app
- Forest Timeline
My Verdict
While your virtual tree is held hostage, you can’t risk checking your social media; therefore, you can keep your focus on a task longer. Overall, Forest is very user-friendly and easy to learn. If you are looking for an app to track multiple projects, consider checking other apps for iPhone in my review.
Pros
- Interactive deep focus session
- Widgets available
- Earn coins to plant real trees
- Focus time distribution statistics
- More than 50 types of trees
- White noise sounds
Cons
- Leaving the app will cause your tree to wither
- Not an app for tracking billable time

Why I Like It
Toggl Track is an intuitive and easy-to-use time-tracking tool. The interface is clean and straightforward, and it didn’t take much time to learn how to use all the features.
One particularly good aspect of this app is that you start tracking time right away. I didn’t have to create clients’ profiles and project data. Everything could be modified later.
Whenever I had a meeting with clients, I would export data and add company statistics into the presentation.
In short, Toggle Track took my personal organization to a whole new level. Any start-up company can boost their productivity and performance thanks to Toggl Track.
Key Features
- Pomodoro timer
- Automated time-tracking triggers
- Overview of team activity
- CSV imports
- Unlimited projects and clients
My Verdict
One of the must-haves of any app is accessibility on multiple platforms. One day I kept Toggl Track open on my Chrome browser and later evaluated the time entries from my iPad before switching to my iPhone.
Apart from the app synchronizing across devices, you can also have a team of up to five users. Using techniques like Pomodoro and tracking time offline are just some of the features that will help your company prosper.
Pros
- API and reports available
- Outlook and Google Calendar events visible in the app
- Detects idle time
- Offline tracking available
- Voice control features via Siri
- Can be used as a web app, mobile app, and desktop app
Cons
- Toggl Plan could use more visual options for lists and calendar views
- Paid subscription is bought for each user separately

If you prefer to keep everything simple, Timewerks is a great app for that. It offers all of the basic time-tracking features but also supports invoicing. With the Lite plan, you get to have only one invoice, so consider upgrading your account if you want to manage billing on a daily basis.
Why I Like It
Tracking time spent and adding notes and timesheets to your projects are some of the app’s main features. I liked the fact that you can use its free version to perform some of the main tasks without paying for extras.
The interface is simple, and there aren’t sophisticated features piled up on one screen. If you appreciate simplicity, Timewerks can be the suitable time app for you.
Key Features
- Tracks time, billing, and expenses
- Every project has timesheets
- Multiple currency support
- Customize rates for tasks and items
My Verdict
If you are looking for something more than a time-tracking app, Timewerks offers billing and expenses features. It hasn’t let me down during my testing. Although it lacks the advanced features of other competitors, Timewerks can manage invoices for your customs with tracked time.
Pros
- Both time tracking and invoicing app
- Simple and clean design
- Easy to use
- Reliable
Cons
- No phone number to reach customer support

Hubstaff is a suitable time-tracking app for teams. It allows employers to access the overview of workers’ logged time. The time entries can also be supported by screenshots if there are doubts.
Hubstaff also can give access to clients as viewers to monitor the time spent on different projects.
The app is a great project management tool with detailed reporting and even GPS tracking.
Why I Like It
Hubstaff isn’t an ordinary time tracker app; it can automate payments and be integrated with many third-party platforms. I could tailor time entries and purchase add-ons for just a couple of dollars per month.
The time tracking data was always accurate. Whenever I arrived at my workplace, the tracker would start automatically. This feature is quite time-saving and helpful if you sometimes forget to start your timer and jump straight to work.
Key Features
- Location-based time-tracking app
- Time reporting features
- Online timesheets that are generated automatically
- Limited payments
- Data syncs across all your Apple devices
My Verdict
Hubstaff has an interesting GPS tracker feature showing your team members’ location. You can also access past and current live locations for teams always on the move. Apart from that, this comprehensive time-tracking software automatically generates timesheets. Basically, you rarely have to press anything.
Pros
- Export reports
- Management roles available
- 24/7 customer support
- Cheap add-ons available
- Can be integrated with FreshBooks, QuickBooks, PayPal, and more
Cons
- Can get expensive for a small team

Another free iOS time-tracking app is Clockify. It’s a 24/7-supported app for both freelancers and small companies. If you only need basic time-tracking features, this app includes everything. However, the paid version will give access to customizable templates, budget management, and generate estimates, among others.
Why I Like It
Apart from the app being completely free, you can track the time of multiple users via a timer or manually. After testing it just for a few days, I already had quite an insightful report and could determine the billable hours of my employees. Moreover, I tested offline time-tracking features, which were logged accurately.
Key Features
- Unlimited projects
- Unlimited users (the whole team can be tracked)
- Customer exports
- API and Webhooks
My Verdict
Clockilfy made my work fast and simple. Most of the time, you can leave the tracking to the timer, but if you need to modify anything, it is also possible. Some competitors charge more for this feature, especially for adding more users.
Pros
- Unlimited projects
- Unlimited users (the whole team can be tracked)
- Customer exports
- API and Webhooks
Cons
- More advanced features are on the top tiers

TimeCamp is an advanced time-tracking app for iPhone and all iOS devices. You can do more than create projects and tasks. The app lets you distribute the workload and register how much time each assignment takes. All the data combined transforms into visual reports and graphs.
Why I Like It
TimeCamp is filled with many valuable features. I’d like to point out two: GPS tracking and invoicing.
Like Hubstaff, I also got to test GPS tracking and see where my employees were at any moment during work.
Apart from time tracking, I was curious about the invoicing feature and was pleased that it took me only minutes to prepare payrolls. Features like that make time-tracking apps worth all the money.
Key Features
- Multiple-platform tracking
- Idle time tracking
- Notes, goals, and tags included
- GPS tracking
My Verdict
You will quickly learn how to use TimeCamp and benefit from its features. Both plans are comprehensive, and you might not even have to upgrade to a paid version. The only downside is the interface; it might be a bit harder to get used to it because it contains a lot of data. However, there are clearly more pros and cons of the app.
Pros
- Data backups
- One integration for Free plan users and unlimited for paid plan users
- Management roles available
- Billable time and budgeting
- Can be integrated with Airtable, Asana, ClickUp, Google Calendar, and more
Cons
- 24/7 support is available only for paid subscriptions

If you need to present billable time to your client, Harvest is among the most popular picks. Apart from essential time-tracking features, anyone can quickly learn to manage expenses and invoices.
Some competitors need to be integrated with apps like FreshBooks to create invoices; however, that’s not the case with Harvest.
And the best part of all is that Harvest is completely free. But if you manage more than two projects, upgrading your account to a Pro version will save you a lot of time and money.
Why I Like It
An app like Harvest will impress you just like it did me. I could control the time from my Apple watch and synchronize data across all my devices.
One feature I didn’t notice competitors had was how effortlessly you could add invoices and expenses. Whenever I forgot to add expenses, I could just snap a photo of it, and the app did its magic automatically, including expenses to my invoice.
I never knew how enjoyable month-end billing could be.
Key Features
- Automatically create invoices
- Track costs
- Manage budgets
- Track time and generate reports
My Verdict
Harvest is an excellent app for small firms that need to track time and handle expenses and invoices. You can assign time, edit time entries, and create budgets and reports.
Although it doesn’t have offline time tracking and GPS tracking, Harvest is quite a competitive app on the market.
Pros
- Payments can be accepted online when synced with QuickBooks, and Xero
- Add project expenses
- Create budget and time reports
Cons
- Calendar feature unavailable
- Free plan allows only 2 active projects

If your team suffers from low performance, Time Doctor can be a much-needed remedy. It offers features like productivity analysis, screentime monitoring, and employee scheduling. Everything you need to distribute the workload in a balanced way and see how much time each project takes is covered by Time Doctor.
Why I Like It
Time Doctor is user-friendly and has everything I needed to track my team’s performance and projects’ progress during my experiment. The app gets the job done, and the Basic plan is solely dedicated to time tracking.
However, the features you will have may appear too basic and similar to other competitors that have similar functions for free.
Key Features
- Time tracking
- Managing tasks and projects
- Tracking of apps and URLs
My Verdict
Basic subscription allowed me to track time and monitor team members’ performance. However, if you want access to more features, you will need to upgrade your plan to Standard. Although $10 a month isn’t much, purchasing access for everyone in your firm can make a hole in your wallet.
Pros
- Unlimited screenshots
- Activity tracking
- Can be integrated with more than 60 platforms
- Daily email notifications
Cons
- The cheapest plan offers basic features

Tyme3 seems to be designed for iOS users as it seamlessly works as widgets on the lock screen and can be controlled via an Apple watch. Sometimes you don’t have to open the app since everything will be displayed on the screen.
Why I Like It
I think Tyme3 has the best user interface of all the apps in my review. I liked how clean it looked and the visualization of the data overview. I could manage my deadlines, tasks, project progress, etc.
All my events were shown when integrated with my calendar, and I could directly edit them there.
What sets Tyme3 from its competitors is the mileage tracking. If you have employees that travel for work, they easily register their billable hours, and you will adjust their payroll accordingly.
Key Features
- Detailed statistics
- Time recorded in calendars
- Workload overview
- Mileage costs recorded
My Verdict
The Tyme3 app will balance your workload and track your projects if you’re a solo entrepreneur. For only $3.99 per month, you get an automatic time-tracking app that is perfect for people who are always on the move.
Best Time Tracking App for Your iPhone
Choosing the right time-tracking tool can be overwhelming since so many options are available. All of them can be synchronized across iOS devices and even used on an Apple watch.
I advise selecting the features important for you (e.g., mileage tracking, GPS tracking, or invoicing) that come with the time-tracking option. Your next criterion should be whether you want a free or paid app. Usually, tracking apps offer free-of-charge plans but are often limited to a few features (e.g., Harvest or Hubstaff). Out of 10 apps in my review, you will narrow your search to just a few apps.
After testing all 10, I selected Timely. It is free or costs as little as $10 per year and offers multiple modifications to your time entries, not to mention in-depth reporting.
